Valparaiso resident Lee Patrick Pacholke, formerly of South Bend, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2002 at the Valparaiso Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 4, 1924 in Michigan City, he was the son of the late Leo Paul and Lavina Mary (O’Donnell) Pacholke. On May 24, 1945, he married Gladys F. (White) Pacholke, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving are son Mark Pacholke (wife Joan) of Valparaiso; daughters Josephine Lai (husband Shih-Li) of Cerritos, Calif. and Theresa Michael Daniel of Dallas, Texas; brothers James Pacholke (Laverne) and William Pacholke (Nancy); 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughters Patricia Wallace (James) and Stephanie Pacholke. He moved to South Bend in 1954 and was retired as assistant ticket manager from the University of Notre Dame. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish; the Knights of Columbus Council #5521, where he was Past Grand Knight; the Father Nieuwland Assembly of the Fourth Degree; and the 3rd Order of St. Dominic. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hill and LaSalle Streets, South Bend, with Rev. Anthony V. Szakaly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, Edison and Ironwood, South Bend. A parish wake service will take place at 3:30 p.m. and a combined 3rd and 4th degree K of C Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., both Wednesday in the funeral home.
