MISHAWAKA - Mary H. Karczewski, 77, passed away at home on Sunday, August 14. Mary was born on March 12, 1934, in South Bend, IN, to Thomas and Lucille (Valenti) Sisti. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Cecilia Sisti, and a brother, Paul Sisti. On October 4, 1958, in South Bend, as the former Mary Sisti, she married Bernard Karczewski. Surviving are her husband, Bernard; a son, Joe Karczewski of Mishawaka; a brother, Tony Sisti of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews; and by her sisters-in-law, Alice Karczewski, Sally Karczewski and JoAnn Sisti. Mary was a Supervisor of Human Resources Department for AM General for 33 years before she retired. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Mishawaka. Mary loved cooking and baking for her family, nephews and friends. She loved helping people in any way that she could. She will be missed by all who loved her. Visitation for Mary will be on Wednesday, August 17, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Polish Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
