MISHAWAKA Ben “Kelly” S. Karczewski, 84 passed away at 7:20pm Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Hospice House of South Bend. Ben was born on August 2, 1930 in South Bend to John and Bernice (Gadacz) Karczewski. He was employed by Studebaker , EWI and South Bend Stamping. On October 4, 1958 in South Bend he married the former Mary Sisti. She died on August 14, 2011. He was also preceded in death by three sisters Lillian Wlodarek, Sister Grace Ann Karczewski and Theresa Audenaert and three brothers Stanley Karczewski, John Karczewski and Ted Karczewski. Surviving are his son Joseph Karczewski of Mishawaka, two sisters-in-law Sally Karczewski and Joan Sisti, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was a member of the Liberty Pigeon Club of South Bend and the Mishawaka Homing Pigeon Club. Ben enjoyed playing baseball and softball in his younger years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday April 7, 2015 from 4 to 8pm in the Zahoran Funeral Home 1826 S.
