Michael “Mike” David Ditsch, 64, residing in South Bend, Indiana passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at his home. Mike was born on April 20, 1958 in South Bend, IN to Hans J. Ditsch and Carol (Korlowicz) Ditsch and has been a lifelong resident of this area. For many years, Mike worked as a Tool and Die Machinist for Delta Industrial Valve, Inc. in Niles, MI. Mike was a huge Notre Dame, Bears, and Chicago Cubs fan. He loved fishing, enjoyed hosting fish fries, cookouts, and a good campfire. As a small boy, Mike had to have ketchup on everything. He was preceded in death by his father, Hans J. Ditsch; his daughter, Heidi Marie Ditsch; and the mother of his children, Suzi Schneider. Surviving are his daughters, Michelle “Micki” Haney (Terry Middleton) of South Bend, Summer Ditsch of South Bend, and Jessica Shirk of Mishawaka. Along with seven grandchildren, Jacob Haney, Heidi Haney (Steven Anderson), Destiny Aalfs (Trae Lottie), Chloe Keltz, Harmony Keltz, Logan Cencelewski, and Payton Huling (Hope Fowler); and seven great-grandchildren, two of which hold his namesake; and his mother, Carol Ditsch. Also surviving are his sister, Jackie (Eric) Kretchmer of Walkerton, his brother, Jerry (Lauri) Ditsch of South Bend, and his God daughter Kerri (Eric) White of South Bend. Mike was also loved by his stepdaughters, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends who were more like family to him! He will be remembered as “one of the nicest guys you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting”. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, where friends may gather with the family two hours prior to services (4:00 PM till 6:00 PM). Memorial contributions may be made directly to the family. Palmer Funeral Home River Park is assisting the family with arrangements.
