SOUTH BEND - Bernice C. Niezgodski, 85, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 1:10 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Bernice was born on June 29, 1930 in South Bend to Michael and Agnes (Olszewski) Manijak, and was a lifelong resident. She retired in 1992 from Automated Molded Plastics Company, where she was employed for 17 years. On June 19, 1954, in St. Adalbert Church, she married Robert C. Niezgodski, who preceded her in death on February 27, 2007. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sophie Kasnia, Phyllis Ellis and Mary Nowacki; and four brothers, Thomas, Frank, Harry, and Walter Manijak. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Mark) Hudgens of Atlanta, Georgia; two sons, Mark (Jeannette) Niezgodski of Beavercreek, Ohio and Patrick Niezgodski of Lexington, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Zachary Niezgodski, Meagan Niezgodski, and Helen Hudgens; one step-granddaughter, Stacie (Rob) Freeman; and three step great-grandchildren, Landon Corbett, Haiden Freeman and Emerson Freeman. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a family rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also take place from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Bernice was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish and the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. She enjoyed Notre Dame football and was a supporter of the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
