Laura Jane Gubi passed away Wednesday morning December 26 at home. She was born on April 15, 1925 to Dewey and Almeda (Moore) Miller in Wabash, Indiana. Laura spent her early years in Wabash with her family until she moved to South Bend, Indiana with her mom. It was there in school where she met the love of her life, Arnold Gubi. They became childhood sweethearts and married November 27, 1943, before he became a paratrooper and went off to serve in WWII. After his return home they enjoyed raising a family and being together for 63 years before Arnold’s passing in July of 2006. Laura is survived by three daughters, Deborah (Mike) Williams of Buchanan, Dawn (Kevin) Annis and Wendy (Jack) Singleton, both of South Bend; three sons, Craig (Joyce) Gubi of Florida, Gary (Debbie) Gubi of Niles and Glenn (Cheri) Gubi of South Bend; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She belonged to Euchre, Bingo clubs and made crafts, but everyone who knew her knew she loved music and dancing. She couldn’t keep still when she heard it; she had to dance. She was a feisty, spunky, jovial gem and a pleasure to be around. We were very thankful to have her in our lives. There will be no services or visitation for Mrs. Gubi. Hoven Funeral Home, of Buchanan, is assisting the family with arrangements.
