SOUTH BEND - Theresa M. Szalewski, 76, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at 11:25 p.m. in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Theresa was born on January 6, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Vincent and Mary (Kapalezynski) Futa. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Ollie, Bernie and Eddie Futa. On January 3, 1953, she married Edward M. Szalewski in South Bend, who survives along with their children, Kathy Wallis of Niles, MI, Stephen (Christine) Szalewski of Edwardsburg, MI, and Thomas (Luann) Szalewski of Niles, MI; four grandchildren, Zachary, Grant, Rachel and Shae Szalewski; and by her brother, Henry Futa of South Bend. Theresa was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Visitation will also be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 Mayflower Road, South Bend, IN 46619.
