SOUTH BEND - Margaret R. Prentkowski passed away 8 days shy of her 82nd birthday on Saturday, October 10, 2015 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Margaret was born October 18, 1933 in South Bend to the late George and Margaret (Nyikos) Tarr. Margaret is also preceded in death by her son, David Prentkowski and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Chelminiak. On November14, 1953 in South Bend Margaret married her loving husband of 63 years, Leonard Prentkowski. He survives along with their children, Cindy (Ron) Glon of South Bend, Sue (Jim) Alt of Denver, CO and Ann (Larry) Ketola of Amasa, MI; daughter-in-law, Wanda Prentkowski, nephew Johnny Romano and niece, Annette Romano; grandchildren: Justin, Mara, Collins, Amber, Erica, Jenny, Brianne, Andra and Nick, plus 9 great-grandchildren with 4 more baking in the oven. Margaret was employed with South Bend Range, Wheel Horse Products and retired from Ziolkowski Construction. She was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, and a member of the Harvest House, Sisters Auxiliary and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the Hoosier Grandmothers Club and St. Hedwig Golden Cluster Club. Margaret enjoyed reading, bus trips to the casino, and Bible Study groups with Sister Anthony. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Visitation for Margaret will be 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 14, 2015 with a Rosary to be led by Sister Anthony at 5:00 pm in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 15, 2015 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, Indiana 46619.
