SOUTH BEND - Anthony “Tony” Klosowski, 92, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2016, at Healthwin Specialized Care with his grandson and two sisters at his side. He was born April 29, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana. He was the son of Louis and Stella Klosowski, who preceded him in death. Anthony graduated from the former South Bend Catholic High School with the class of 1942. He was employed at Bendix/Honeywell Corporation for 35 years. He also worked for the Brothers of Holy Cross at Notre Dame. Tony liked to keep busy and was considered a “Mr. Fix It.” He washed and repaired bicycles, grass cutters and cars for many family, friends and neighbors. On October 23, 1943, he married the former Mary Wechnerowski, and together they celebrated 44 years of marriage before her death on January 21, 1987. They had one son, Richard A. Klosowski, “The Bear,” who also preceded him in death on August 26, 2014. On August 12, 1989, he married the former Cecilia Strominski, who preceded him in death on May 4, 2016. Surviving family members who cherish his loving memories are his grandson, Anthony R. Klosowski of South Bend; one great-grandson, Ian Klosowski of South Bend; two sisters, Theresa R. Winnicki of Lakeville and Loretta Wieczorek of South Bend; two granddaughters; one daughter-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. One sister, Dolores (Daniel) Pejza, and a baby brother, Adam Klosowski, preceded him in death. A visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2016, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev. Glenn Kohrman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Anthony's honor.
