SOUTH BEND - Richard A. Klosowski, 67, of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born on September 3, 1946, in South Bend, to Anthony and Mary Klosowski. On January 24, 1970, he married Rose Jelinski, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Rebecca Klosowski of Goshen and Katie (Jeremy) Wirebaugh of South Bend; his son, Anthony Klosowski of South Bend; a grandson, Ian Klosow-ski; and by his father, Anthony (Cecilia) Klosowski of South Bend. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kole, and his mother, Mary. Richard retired in 2004 from the South Bend Police Department, where he served for 33½years as a Police Officer. He was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran, a member of the VFW Post #385 and the American Legion Post #284, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. Richard was a freshmen football coach at St. Joseph High School in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He enjoyed fishing and going on fishing trips. People knew him by his nickname "Bear." Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm today, Aug. 28, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, in Holy Family Catholic Church, South Bend. Military honors will follow.
