Walter Dudeck, 78, of Holmes Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 5:40 a.m. Monday, April 1, in his residence. He was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Ardmore, Ind., and was the son of Joseph and Maude (Love) Dudeck, who have preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Dudeck and Thomas Dudeck; and by three brothers and two sisters. On Dec. 6, 1946, Walter married Mildred Shaffer, who survives. He is also survived by five daughters, Katherine Enders, Marie (the late Chuck Clark), Nancy A. Dudeck of South Bend, Patricia Dudeck of Indianapolis, Ind., and Sandra (Paul) Clark of Rolling Prairie, Ind.; two sons, James Dudeck and Randy Dudeck, both of South Bend; one brother, Edward (Alvera) Dudeck of South Bend; and by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In his youth he had served as an altar server at St. Dominic's in Washington, D.C. Walter was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
