SOUTH BEND - Alexander J. Walczewski Sr., 84, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2009, in Memorial Hospital. Alexander was born on May 30, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Natalie (Stasinski) Walczewski. On April 15, 1950, he married Adeline (Ciesialka) Walczewski. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Audrey Walczewski; and by his six siblings, Casimir, Stanley, Walter, Henrietta, Josephine and Theresa. He is survived by his two children, Adriane Walczewski of South Bend and Al (Sue) Walczewski Jr. of Granger; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Frank Walczewski of Niles, MI. Al served his country on the USS Walke and the USS Turner in the United States Navy. He was a member of American Legion 357, St. Joseph Club, DAV, and was a member of 40/8. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 20, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
