Elizabeth C. "Liz" Long, age 94, Logansport, passed away at 1:45 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2011, in her residence, in the home in which she was born. Born on September 15, 1916, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Albert and Catherine Holle Berndt. She was married on June 11, 1942, in Logansport, to Garold Eugene 'Gene' Long, who preceded her in death on April 7, 1976. A graduate of Logansport High School in 1935, Liz had worked at RBM and the Gossard prior to having her family. She was a cafeteria worker at Logansport High School from 1965 to 1983. Liz was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She loved music, crafts, flowers and plants, reading, especially mysteries, and the activities of her grandchildren. She was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. Suviving are Sons: David Long, and Mark Long (wife, Michele), all of Logansport; Daughters: Christine (husband, William) Polei, Karen Long, and Mary Lisa Brown, all of Logansport Daughters-in-Law: Jane Long and Dawn Long, both of Logansport; 17 Grandchildren: Barb (husband, John) Davenport, Jean Brumbaugh, Jim Long, Rachel (husband, Rod) Hainje, Emily (husband, Wes) Anderson, Ryan Long, Kahla Long, Molly Long, Sarah (husband, Ray) Pellegrini, Katie (husband, John) Keucher, Stephanie Polei, Erin Buntain, Cassie (husband, Mark) Dobbs, Laura (husband, Landon) Blume, Meaghan Long, Patrick Long, and Courtney Long; 15 Great Grandchildren: Carrie Davenport, Holly Hamilton, Derek Hamilton, Allison Hylton, Levi Long, Mason Long, Dalton Long, Cole Hainje, Luke Hainje, Anna Hainje, Noah Dobbs, Anne Pellegrini, Corbin Blume, Case Anderson, and Gabe Anderson, with 3 more expected in 2011; and her beloved pet dog, Roxie. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Mike McKinney officiating. Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Kroeger Funeral Home, where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemretery. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church.
