GRANGER - Richard James Bueche, 80, of Granger, passed away peacefully in his home in the company of those he loved on Saturday, November 19th. Born October 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Marigold (Mathisen) Bueche. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris (Cave); three children, Ron (Debbie Moyer) Bueche, Sherry Bueche and Russ Bueche; four grandchildren, Jessica Phelps, Sean Bueche, Alicia Bueche and Brett Bueche; and two great-granddaughters, BriYanna and Kynzie, who always brought a shine to his eyes; a brother, Kenneth (Diane) Bueche; nephews, Keith and Kevin, and niece, Debbie; as well as several extended family members. Richard graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1951, where he was a member of the state championship football team of '51. He led a full and rich life, with service in the Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. On October 1st, 1955, his birthday, Richard and Doris were married. He was an employee of Indiana Michigan Power at Twin branch and retired in 1991 after a 40-year career. Richard had many hobbies and interests, and was a 4-H leader for over 20 years. Richard had a great number of friends that included fellow service members of VFW Post 360, friends in the Amish Community, and countless others. His genuine smile and personality touched the lives of everyone he met. Friends may call today from 3-8 PM at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Road. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
