Emery Howard Kertai (June 3, 1942 - Feb. 27, 2009).
LAKEVILLE - Emery Howard Kertai, 66, of Lakeville, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2009, in Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation, South Bend. Mr. Kertai was born on June 3, 1942, in St. Joseph County, to the late Rudolph and Bernice (Everly) Kertai. He had been a lifelong area resident. Mr. Kertai retired from Preston Trucking after 44 years of employment. He served his country proudly with the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Kertai was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Kertai is survived by his four sons, Emery Kertai Jr. of Nappanee, Wade (Tracy) Kertai of Bremen, Brad (Danielle) Kertai of LaPaz and Shawn (Tracie) Kertai of Bremen; 13 grandchildren, Corteney, Justus, Faith, Jesse, BreAunna, Matthew, Alexis, Ethan, Isabella, Alaina, Brooke, Kristyn and Paige; and two sisters, Betty Miller and Ann (Jim) Whitesel, both of South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, followed by military honors. Rev. Doug Jividen will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Emery H.
