SOUTH BEND - Julianna Wieger, known by all as Julie, passed away at 7:10 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2016, in her home just three days after her 67th birthday. She was born May 3, 1949, in Neukirchen, Germany, and had lived in South Bend since her parents' immigration in her early childhood. On April 2, 1966, in South Bend, Julianna Jakab was united in marriage to the love of her life, Steve E. Wieger. This April, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Along with her loving husband Steve, she is survived by her daughter, Dr. Julie Wieger of South Bend, daughter-in-law, Stephannie Wieger of South Bend, her aunt, Ruby Jakab of Granger, stepmother, Ramona Jakab of Elkhart, and her BFF, Sindy Fisher of Minnesota, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Jakab; father, Louis Jakab; sister, Eva (Bud) Miller; and her brother, Louis (Carol) Jakab II. Julie retired from Selmer Music where she worked as a Purchasing Agent and Office Manager/Bookkeeper. She loved gardening and enjoyed flowers both in and outside her home. She had a soft spot for animals, especially those that inhabited her home as well as her yard. She loved to find a good bargain and enjoyed occasional trips to the casino. She was known as a loving and loyal friend, for her impeccable style, attention to detail, and making her home a beautiful and comfortable place to be. She touched many lives and will be missed by many. Memorial services will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, May 12, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 pm Thursday. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at American Legion Post 284, 23571 Grant Rd. /W. Sample St., South Bend, where friends and family may honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to The Center For Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637; or the ASPCA.
