MISHAWAKA - Kelly Jo Czarnecki, 52, passed away at home on Saturday, May 7, 2016. Kelly was born on May 31, 1962 in South Bend. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Joan Toth Ostrowski, as well as her grandparents, Frank and Leah Ostrowski who helped raise her. On September 9, 1989 at St. Monica Catholic Church, she married Kevin Czarnecki. Surviving are her loving husband, Kevin; three beautiful loving children, Specialist Brandon Czarnecki U.S. Army Ft Bragg, NC, Bailey Czarnecki of Phoenix, AZ and Blair Czarnecki of Ft Collins, CO; two sisters, Ann (Jamie) BeMiller Knoxville, TN and Janice (Steve) Berreth Granger, lastly special cousin Patty Gregory of South Bend. Kelly grew up in Indianapolis, IN and was a graduate of the class of 1981 from Warren Central. She began her pursuit of nursing at IU Bloomington, after two years she transferred to the University of Texas Austin where she fulfilled her dream. She graduated with a BSN in 1985 and moved back to South Bend where she was employed for 27 years at Memorial Hospital SB. In 2013, Kelly resigned to travel and work with her husband managing their construction business in Tioga, ND. Kelly lived her life for family, tradition, faith, love and humor. She was a member of Texas Execs; past member of Tri Kappa and St. Monica's Home and School Association. Kelly enjoyed watching sports, mostly Texas football. She loved to travel, garden, cook, and throw a party, especially a Christmas celebration. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 11 from 1 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 12 at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church, Mishawaka with Monsignor Bruce Piechocki officiating. The family would like to thank the staff at Memorial Hospital and Center for Hospice for all of their care and kindness to Kelly and the whole family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial contributions be made to Marian High School for the Kelly Czarnecki Nursing Scholarship Fund.
