Mariellen Nix-Dickey, 92, of Carthage, TX, and formerly of Huntington, IN, passed away October 6, 2016, at Briarcliff Nursing Center, Carthage, TX. Mariellen was born September 14, 1924, in South Bend, IN to Ernest and Olga (Wader) Eberly. Her parents preceded her in death. Mariellen married Lawrence Nix in 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1975. Mrs. Nix’s second marriage was to Robert Dickey on April 30, 1986. He survives and resides in Carthage, TX. Mariellen graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1942. She worked in bookkeeping most of her life. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Huntington, IN, and also attended Faith Community in Huntington, IN. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Joel B. (Julia) Nix, San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Ann O. Moretz, San Antonio, TX, Marilyn Sue (Richard) Widelski, Huntington, IN; and one sister, Amelia (Harold Dean) Benninghoff, South Bend, IN. Mrs. Nix is survived by 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Along with her parents and first husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleon Eberly, Albert Eberly; and 5 sisters, Helen, Esther, Dora, Myrtle and Mildred. Calling October 12, 2016, at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street Huntington, IN. Funeral services will be held following the calling October 11, 2016, at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. William Rapp officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend, IN.
