Adeline D. Van (Krych) Laecke
May 27, 1923 ~ November 11, 2020 (age 97)
Adeline Krych Van Laecke was born to Mary Anna Hans and Valentine Krych. She lost her father at the age of 4. Edward Szlanfucht became her new dad 3 years later. Adeline met her husband Albert at the age of 14 at the Dew Drop Inn in Mishawaka and they were instantly attracted. Two years later their romance began. Al and Adeline were married on June 28, 1941. Al always said "She is the love of my life"....and he was the love of her life! The years went by quickly....a son Gerald (Peg) Van Laecke, a daughter Janis (Nelson) Weaver and another son Albert (Diane) Van Laecke, followed by five grandchildren David (Kristen) Van Laecke, Amy (Paul Liebe) Van Laecke, Wesley (Beth) Weaver, Brian (Laura Deitz) Weaver, Chad (Jennifer) Van Laecke, and seven great-grandchildren, Taren, Brady and Avery Van Laecke, Nicholas and Alexis Weaver, and Matthew and Hailey Weaver. Adeline was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was petite, yet feisty, a highly creative, determined, adventurous woman. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, baking, flower gardening, and decorating her home. Those who were blessed to know her well remember her sense of style, boundless energy, and bright smile. Adeline and Al loved music and dancing and never missed an opportunity to be on the dance floor. Adeline was nicknamed "Addie" by her friends at the Hearth and became quite a storyteller. At times she enjoyed a captive audience, with many smiling and others laughing at her wit and humor. She lived a full and meaningful life. We were blessed with the best mom and dad in the world....and we are sincerely grateful. Special thanks to Sherry (her friend and caregiver who helped her live at home a few years longer), Elaine (her friend, makeup artist and beautician!), and Karen, (her friend that made her laugh and feel special). Thank you dear friends for YOUR acts of kindness, and being with us today to celebrate her life. The Family of Adeline Van Laecke
