Chester F. Borowski, 91, passed away Monday, February 1, 2016 in the Hearth at Juday Creek.
Chester was born July 6, 1924 in South Bend to the late Frank and Caroline Borowski. On May 3, 1947 in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Chester married his loving wife Esther (Sobieralski) Borowski, she preceded him in death on February 28, 2014. Chester was also preceded in death by sisters, Alice Dabrowiak, Clementine Billisitz, Jean Chiszar; and brother, Joseph Borowski. Survivors of Chester include his children, Paul (Mary) Borowski, Susan (Glenn) Mesaros, Dennis (Mary) Borowski, Michelle (George) Martin, all of South Bend; grandchildren, Sheila (Troy) Greiner of Elkhart, Cheryl (Herbert) Janhke of South Bend, Traci (Kris) Ashcraft of Zionsville, IN, Lori (Judd) Feldman of Indianapolis, and Kyle (Breannon) Mesaros of South Bend; great grandchildren, Adison and A.J. Ashcraft, Lily, Reese, and Gwen Feldman, Justin and Jonah Greiner, and Elliott Mesaros; a brother-in-law Art O’Chap, a sister-in-law Mary Ann Sobieralski and by many special nieces and nephews. Chester honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Chester worked at Studebaker until its closing. He retired from South Bend Community Schools where he was a custodian for many years. Chester was a life time member of VFW, locally VFW 3194 and VFW 9820, American Legion Post #357 and the St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He was a coin collector and enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. The family would like to thank the care givers at the Hearth at Juday Creek for their kindness.
Visitation for Chester will be held from 10:00am to 12:30pm, Thursday, February 4, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00pm in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be given to St. Adalbert Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St., South Bend, Indiana 46619.

SOUTH BEND -- The 60th anniversary of Esther and Chester Borowski of South Bend was celebrated May 6 with a family party at Emporium Restaurant. Chester Borowski and Esther Sobieralski married May 3, 1947, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. They have four children, Susan Mesaros, Michelle Martin, Paul, and Dennis, all of South Bend. They also have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Borowski retired in 1989 from South Bend Community School Corp., and Mrs. Borowski retired in 1985 from the former Raco Inc. They have lived in South Bend all of their lives
