MARTINSVILLE - Benedict Anthony “Ben” Kazmierzak, 92, of Martinsville passed from this life at 10:45 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on June 18, 1923 to the late Andrew and Theresa (Kowalski) Kazmierzak. Ben grew up in South Bend, Indiana, where he graduated high school before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served his country honorably during WWII. Ben was an insurance salesman for many years at The Prudential Life Insurance Company of America, where he eventually retired. On June 28, 1946 Ben married his beloved wife, Ida (Laermans) Kazmierzak; she preceded him in death on November 1, 2012. He and Ida were members of the St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Mooresville for many years. Ben had a love and natural talent for music and woodworking. He took pleasure in remodeling homes and traveling. He is survived by his son, Paul (wife, Linda) Kazmierzak of Indianapolis; daughter, Denise Kazmierzak of Indianapolis; brother, Andrew F. (wife, Wanda) Kazmierzak of South Bend; sisters, Marie Kazmierzak and Gertie (husband, Bob) Kerger both of South Bend; three grandchildren, Stephanie (husband, Sean) Kazmierzak-Esler, Jennifer Catherine and Nathaniel Paul Kazmierzak and one step-great-grandson, Rafael Esler. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida; son, Joseph Kazmierzak; daughter, Paulette Kazmierzak; brother, Raymond Kazmierzak and sister, Claire Schubert. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1709 E. Harrison St., Martinsville, IN. Father John Hall will conduct a Funeral Mass beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the church and he will be laid to rest following the service in the St. Martins Catholic Cemetery, Martinsville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association , 50 East 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
