John A. Miller, 85, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. He was born on March 17, 1936 New Carlisle in, Indiana to the late William J. and Lassie (Worthington) Miller. On November 20, 1954 John married Elizabeth A. Modjeska who preceded him in death on October 30, 2011. John is survived by one daughter, Jackie (Gary Wordinger) Holler of North Liberty, Indiana, one son, John C. Miller of South Bend, Indiana, three grandchildren, Michelle (Christopher) Sanders, Kathy (Tony Varda) Holler, and Amy (Dwan) Bradshaw, and six great grandchildren, Alexander, Dwan II, and Andrew Bradshaw, Karsen and Grant Sanders, and Hunter Holler-Varda. He is also survived by one brother-in-law, James Lindsey, and several nieces and nephews. John was also preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Erhardt, Lois Markwith, and Patsy Lindsey, three brothers, Charles, James and Roy Miller. John worked as a truck driver his whole life. He rode horses, raised cattle and pigs. He was quite the gentleman farmer. John loved to put out a garden every year, as he aged, he became the supervisor instructing the whole family how to garden from the seat of his garden tractor. He had a great sense of humor always having a joke or story, he hauled grain for multiple farm families in the area and Zahl’s elevator. He was a hardworking, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was always very proud of his family. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in New Carlisle, Indiana from 10:00 until 11:00 am est. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow in Sauktown cemetery.
