Peter was the son of Pieter Van Es and Marina Van De Kasteele of Zonnemaire, Zeeland, Nl. He came to South Bend, Indiana in 1920. On Oct 31, 1925 he married Johanna Jacoba Kwist in South Bend. They had 8 children. Peter Jr., John, Marianne, Marie, Anthony, Cornelia "Cory", Richard and Paul Van Es.
