Johanna was the daughter of Johannes Cornels Kwist and Maria S.A. Van de Sande. On Oct 31, 1925 Johanna married Peter Van Es Sr in South Bend, In. She worked for Ziker cleaners of South Bend for 23 years before retiring in 1975. Johanna was a member of the New Apostolic Church of South Bend and enjoyed writing religious poetry. In her story Things My Mother Told Me she shares what it was like for her parents to grow up in Zeeland, Nl. This is one of many articles shared in my family heirloom book "Our Dutch Heritage: The Kwist Family."
