SOUTH BEND - Surrounded by family, Michael D.Lewinski, 61, passed from this life into the eternal presence of our Lord Jesus in Muskegon, MI on Wednesday, January 10th.
He was born in South Bend on August 20, 1945, to the late Albin and Helen Lewinski. He was a graduate of St.Joseph High School, South Bend. Survivors include his six children, Debora Lewinski of South Bend, Elizabeth (Michael) Bankston of Gastonia, NC, Emily (Jerod) Johnson of New Era, MI, Melissa Lewinski of Mishawaka, Andrew (Renee) Lewinski of South Bend, and Alan Lewinski of West Lafayette, IN;and four grand- children. Also surviving are brothers, Donald (Monette) Lewinski of Gulf Shores, AL and Thomas Lewinski of Grand Rapids, MI;sister Shirley (Gary) Pressnell of South end;sister-in-law, Joyce Lewinski of Muskegon, MI;and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Eugene and Richard Lewinski. Michael spent most of his life in South Bend. He was a Systems Analyst and among others, spent 18 years at Miles Laboratories in Elkhart. He enjoyed singing and playing his guitar and loved working with the preschool children in his church. Services will be held Monday evening at 7:00 p.m.at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 216 Beeson Road, Niles, MI with Pastor Brad Lomax officiating. You may visit with family and share memories one hour prior to the service.Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts will be accepted at The Navigators, PO Box 6000, Colorado Springs, CO 80934, designation #22480669 for Alan Lewinski’s three year missionary term in Japan.
