SOUTH BEND - Evelyn M. Futa, 89, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday May 17, 2014, in her home. She was born on April 4, 1925, in South Bend, to the late Martin and Hattie (Pzybylski) Orlowski. On November 20, 1948, she married Joseph Futa, who preceded hear in death on August 12, 2005. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy Futa, in 2012; a sister, Rita Celichowski; and a brother, Ernest Orlowski. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Nancy Futa of Mishawaka; her sons, Larry (Becky) Futa of South Bend and their children, Keith (Robyn), Kevin (Erica) and Kory (Tammy) Futa; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emily, Conner, Madison, Jackson, Reagan and Dawson Futa; her son, Rick Futa and his children, Scott (Sara), Eric (Brandi), Mark and Dan Futa; and grandchildren, Brennen, Austin, Kylie, Evan, Ryne, Jaden, Owen and Isabelle Futa; and by a sister-in-law, Jeannette Orlowski of South Bend. Mrs. Futa was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, South Bend. She loved animals, always feeding the birds. Her life was dedicated to her faith and family, she was a devout Catholic and prayed every day. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 pm Tuesday May 20, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday May 21, 2014, in St. Adalbert Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Real Services, for making her life much easier. Memorial contributions may be made to Real Services or the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
