Frank F. Modjeska

Frank F. Modjeska, 96, of E. Sunnyside Drive, in (Hudson Lake), New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Modjeska was born on February 18, 1909, in Mishawaka, Indiana to Joseph and Frances (Mrozinski) Modjeska. Frank retired in 1975, from the LaPorte County Highway Department. After retirement he operated Frank's lawn mower repair service until he was 95 years old. Frank had been self employed for many years as a thrasher for local farmers, drove a milk route to Chicago and operated his own excavating service, having built most of the roads in New Carlisle. On June 25, 1929, Frank married Regina Wozniak who preceded him in death on March 8, 1988. His daughter, Frances preceded him in death on April 4, 2003, and a son Thomas as an infant. A sister Ruth also preceded him in death. Surviving are daughters, Dorothy Loree of New Carlisle, Mary Andrews of Chicago, Illinois, Elizabeth (John) Miller of New Carlisle, Josephine Carroll of New Carlisle, Carol Weber of New Carlisle; sons, Frank (Diana Lynn) Modjeska of New Carlisle, Edward (Lola Jean) Modjeska of LaPorte, Indiana; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his nephew, Clifford Anderson of LaPorte, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday, July 22, 2005, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana, where a rosary will be held at 7:30 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Saturday, July 23, 2005, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupee, with burial to follow in the New Carlisle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice 310 W. Mckinley Avenue, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.
