SOUTH BEND - John E. Nawrocki, former resident of South Bend, passed away on May 14 at his home in Henderson, Nevada, after a brief illness. John was born on February 24, 1949, to Edward J. and Mary A. (Babinski) Nawrocki. Both parents preceded him in death. On January 16, 1971, he married Judy Catanzarite, who preceded him in death. His brother Thomas also preceded him in death. John is survived by his daughter, Julie Nawrocki, and grandson, Joe Gerencser of Henderson, Nevada. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon (Mike) Kerikas of Salt Lake City, Utah, and by his nephews, Edward and Stephen Nawrocki of South Bend. John was an employee of A&P and Martin's Supermarket in South Bend before moving to Henderson, Nevada, in 1993. He continued working in the grocery business for Albertson's until his retirement in 2009. He was an expert in produce. John also had a green thumb and could make any green plant grow, thrive and produce a bountiful crop of vegetables. He absolutely enjoyed the years he lived in Nevada, and was excited to see the Cubs win a World Series. John will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
