MISHAWAKA - Richard L. Wadzinski, 74, of Mishawaka passed away on the evening of April 23rd in his residence surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born in South Bend on January 11, 1942 to the late Stanley B. and Beulah “Boots” (Hojnacki) Wadzinski. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1966. On August 5, 1967 in South Bend, he married the love of his life, Barbara Brugh. Richard retired in 2007, after 39 years, from CTS Corp. where he was a tool and die designer. Richard was a former Cub Scout leader and was also active with the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Richard was always busy helping someone in need. He loved the outdoors and fishing, but his greatest joy came from spending time at the lake cottage in Michigan with family and friends. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and their 2 sons, Scott R. Wadzinski of South Bend and Todd A. (Alex Rea) Wadzinski of Houston, Texas. He was the proud grandfather of Ruth Anne Wadzinski. Ruth and her “Papa” had a very special loving relationship. He also leaves behind a sister, Christine (Emery) Chrobot of Osceola, Indiana and a brother, Lester A. (Janet) Wadzinski of Unionville, Indiana. He also leaves behind 6 nieces and nephews.As per Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 26th, from 3:30 until 8:00 PM, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 27th, in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4508 Vistula Rd., Mishawaka, at 11:00 AM, with Fr. John Eze officiating. A private graveside service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to either Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545; or to Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714 (www.lustgarten.org).
