Kiang, Dr. John C. K. May 10,1911- June 7, 2003 Dr. John Kiang, 92, was born in Shaoyang, China. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunan University in 1931, Masters and Doctorate of Philosophy in Political Science degree from University of Nebraska in 1952 and 1956, and a Master degree in Library Science from University of Michigan. Dr. Kiang has lived in South Bend, IN since 1956. Dr. Kiang was a philosopher and humanitarian. He devoted his life to promoting world peace. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize four times (1986, 1987, 1988, and 1994) for his lifelong dedication and contribution to the One World movement. Dr. Kiang was the inventor of a duplicator for printing library catalog cards and became a successful businessman. He received three patents from the US government. He manufactured and distributed the duplicator to more than eighty countries. In 1975, he sold the business to Galord Brothers. Dr. Kiang was the founder and director of One World Publishing in Notre Dame, IN. His books include: The Sea is Wide and the Sky is High, Dr. James Yen, One World: The Approach of Permanent Peace on Earth and General Happiness of Mankind, The Early One World Volume I and II, Two Years After and My Memoir. Dr. Kiang received numerous awards for his lifelong dedication to mankind. Dr. Kiang was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha since 1956. He received a special service award from the Chinese-Ameri can Educational Foundation in 1985. His name appears in the International Who's Who Intellectuals and Dictionary of World Chinese Contemporary Famous People. Published in Ann Arbor News on Jun. 13, 2003.
