SOUTH BEND - Donald E. Lukasiewicz, 84, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Don was born June 25, 1932 in South Bend to the late Edward and Hattie (Kalka) Lukasiewicz. Don married Helen Horwath in 1972, she preceded him in death. On June 18, 1974, Don married Joan Fitzgerald, she survives along with three sons, David, Thomas (Judy) and Donald Eugene; a daughter, Karen, all of South Bend; granddaughter, Tracie Dawn Lukasiewicz (fiancé, Ricky Mahadeo) of Issaquah, Washington. Don was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1951 where he excelled in sports, (especially football) and at Harrison Elementary School. Don retired as Captain from the South Bend Fire Department #362 after 38 years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Jude's Catholic Church. Don was a former board member of the West Side Democratic Club and a founding member of Corvilla. He was also a former board member of Logan Industries Parents Group. Visitation for Donald is 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Thursday, November 17, 2016 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. where a Funeral Ceremony will take place 10:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2016 in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
