SOUTH BEND - Rita I. Nyari , 72, of Strawberry Hill Road, passed away at 2:17 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 15, in Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Nyari was a loving wife and mother who was born on Nov. 10, 1926 in Boston, Mass. and had lived in South Bend for 53 years. On March 24, 1946 in Boston, as Rita Maloney she married Alex Nyari , who survives. She is also survived by four daughters, Kathleen (Ronald) Nowicki of South Bend, Ind., Linda (Charles Jennings) Nyari of Seattle, Wash., Diane Nyari of Chicago, Ill. and Mary Ellen (John) Thoma of South Bend; five grandchildren, Ronald (Sue) Nowicki, Jr., Laura (Matt) Brugh, Michael Thoma, Paul Thoma and Jacob Thoma; one great-grandchild, Ryan Brugh; two sisters, Marion (John) Houlihan and Joan (Jim) Hurley, both of South Boston, Mass.; and by two brothers, Edward (Kay) Maloney of South Weymouth, Mass. and Charles Maloney of South Boston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. today in St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Visitations were yesterday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Church or that masses be celebrated in Rita's memory.Published in the South Bend Tribune; Feb. 18, 1999.
