Joseph J. Szymanowski, 78, of 450 S. Kaley St., died at 1:12 p.m. Saturday in his home. He formerly was a manager of Dunkin Donuts, and retired from Bendix Corp. in 1973. Born Feb. 26, 1907, in New York, Mr. Szymanowski had lived in this area most of his life. On Aug. 31, 1935, in South Bend, he married Genevieve (Jean) Krol, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Dolores Cira of South Bend; a son, Ronald, of South Bend; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a aster, Theresa Weidenfeld of Newhall, Calif.; and a brother, Steve of Gilmer Beach, Mich. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Adelbert's Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home. There will be a parish rosary at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
