LAPORTE, IN - Louis J. Kosowski, Sr., 80, of La Porte, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019. Louis was born August 8, 1938 in La Porte and was a 1956 graduate of La Porte High School, where he was known as the “Galloping Ghost” on the Slicer's Football team. Louis enjoyed many outdoor activities including gardening and fishing. Louis had a successful career of 30+ years in the insurance industry for John Hancock Company. Above all, Louis was a simple man and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his two sons, Louis Kosowski, Jr. of South Bend and Brian Kosowski of South Bend; three daughters, Kathy (Doug) Walker of Elkhart, Lynn (Doug) Andrews of Argos, and Tricia (Bill) Giesler of Granger; grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Kosowski, Joshua (Robin) Kosowski, Rachel (Ricky) Trosper, Chad Walker, Kristy (Brian) Henn, Brittney (Matthew) Stier, and Brice Giesler, along with nine great-grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his six siblings. Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends Friday, February 1, 2019, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Porte, on Saturday February 2, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ian Williams celebrating the life of Louis.
