Josephine (Mirocha) Grzeskowiak, loving and devoted mother and grandmother, 94, of Fountainview Place, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away, Friday, November 3, 2006, in the nursing home. Josephine was born on October 31, 1912, in South Bend, to Anthony and Catherine (Lupa) Mirocha. She had been employed with the former Wilson Brothers Shirt Company. On November 24, 1934, at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in South Bend, Josephine married Clement Grzeskowiak, who preceded her in death on October 25, 1978. A son, Frederick Grzeskowiak, preceded her in death on February 6, 2006. Sisters, Mary Perry, Anne Thilman, Alice Mirocha and a brother, J. Kelly Mirocha also preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Carolyn Kovacs of Osceola, Indiana, Sandra (Jim) Pontius of Osceola, Indiana, Thomas Grzeskowiak of South Bend, Melvin (Judy) Grzeskowiak of Elkhart, Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Joanne Grzeskowiak of South Bend; 11 grandchildren, Debbie (Rolando) Hernandez of South Bend, Todd (April) Pontius of Mishawaka, Indiana, Paula Balderaz of South Bend, Bruce (Amy) Pontius of Mishawaka, Indiana, Jill Mejer of South Bend, Alan Grzeskowiak of Mishawaka, Indiana, Mark and Eric Grzeskowiak of South Bend, Katherine Grzeskowiak of Chicago, and Kevin, and Jeff Grzeskowiak of South Bend; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Thaddeus Ted Mirocha of South Bend; and a sister-in-law, Henrietta (Emery) Ozdych of South Bend.Visitation will be held from 2-8 PM Monday, November 6, 2006, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 6PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at St. Hedwig Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.Mrs. Grzeskowiak was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church for 72 years.
