AVON PARK, FL - Anthony C. Skorupski, 96, of Avon Park, Florida passed away on August 15, 2016, at his daughter's home in Crystal Lake, IL. Anthony was born in South Bend, Indiana on August 11, 1920 to Frances and Frank Skorupski. He was a devoted husband to Dorothy (Deka) Skorupski (1921-2010). Anthony proudly served his country in WWII in the Army as a mechanic and truck driver hauling heavy artillery in England, France and Germany. Anthony was employed by Studebaker's in South Bend and retired from AM General. In 1987 he and Dorothy moved to Avon Park, Florida. Anthony was a loving, nurturing father to David Skorupski and Janet Leach, and proud grandfather to Victoria Asher, Valerie Cywinski, Justin Skorupski, James Leach, Anthony Leach, and Michael Leach. He was doubly proud of his 11 beautiful great-grandchildren. He was the favorite uncle of his many nieces and nephews and God Children. Anthony was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, his parents, 5 brothers, Joseph, Thaddeus, Zigmund, Stanley and infant Casimer, and sister, Genevieve Haluda. A Memorial Mass will take place on October 15 at noon at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park, FL and on October 30 at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana. Memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or the Hospice of your choice. Published in South Bend Tribune from Oct. 2 to Oct. 29, 2016
