Stanley E. Stopczynski, after celebrating his 95th birthday on Thursday, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2023 at the Center for Hospice in South Bend. Stanley was born on February 23, 1928 in South Bend, to the late Enoch and Lottie (Leda) Stopczynski. On September 27, 1958, Stanley married the love of his life, Mary Jane (Bejma) Stopczynski, who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Renee Stopczynski; sisters, Elsie Stopczynski and Irene Siencki; and brothers, Bert, Joe, and Ben Stopczynski. Left to cherish the memory of Stanley are his children, David (Lisa) Stopczynski, Ronald Stopczynski, and Kenneth Stopczynski; grandchildren, Shane (Jessica) Stopczynski, Kyle (Amber) Stopczynski, Abigail (Kyle) Murphy, Tom (Sue) Stopczynski, Alex (Sarah) Stopczynski, Zachary Stopczynski, Sarah Stopczynski, and Janey Stopczynski; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Zooey and Maeve Murphy, Elsie, Henry and Leo Stopczynski, Mary Jane Stopczynski, Willa Stopczynski, and Autumn Stopczynski; brother, Enoch Stopczynski; sister-in-laws, Patricia Howard and Estelle Bejma; and his brother-in-law, Robert Bejma. Our parents loved to travel and took many trips together. They loved being with their kids and grandkids and watching their sporting events. Dad loved working in the yard. He loved building and fixing things that didn’t work, and even dug a basement by hand under his home. Dad loved Sunday night dinners with his family and finishing the day with playing Euchre with his sons and grandkids. And grandpa, wait a while will ya… Friends and family will be received from 3:00pm-7:00pm Thursday, March 2, 2023 at St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S Mayflower Rd, and then again from 9:00am-9:30am Friday, March 3, 2023 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Parish, 3526 St Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628. Entombment with military honors will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Donations in honor of Stanley E.
