On Oct. 12, 1886, Rev. Peter Johannes, pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in South Bend, married John Grams and Marcyanna Krzeszewski. Both had been born in Prussia. John was the son of Johan Grams, and Marcyanna was the daughter of Albert & Rosa Bartwozech Krzeszewski. Marcyanna died in 1894.

According to the 1900 census of South Bend, John Grams, a widower, had immigrated in 1883. His sons, Alexander and Max, and his mother-in-law Josephine Krzeszewski were living with him. By the time of the 1910 census, his son Max had married, and it was his son Alex and Jmpther-in-law, Josephine Krzeszewski living with John. John died in 1919.
