Harold Gordon VanDusen Sr., of Magnolia Street, South Bend, passed away at 4:00am on Wednesday, August 17th at his home. He was born October 15, 1926 in South Bend to Oscar and Laura (Smith) VanDusen who preceded him in death. Mr. VanDusen is survived by his Companion of many years, Linda Meadows along with his children, Carol King of South Bend, Harold (Norma) VanDusen Jr. of Edwardsburg, Jerry (Tina) VanDusen of South Bend, Gary (Sharon) VanDusen Sr. of South Bend, Debbie VanDusen of Niles, Michigan and Sherry Benway of South Bend. Also surviving are twenty one grandchildren, Twenty Eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A brother, Vernon VanDusen of South Bend survives with a sister, Alberta Hill of Elkhart. He was also preceded in death by two brothers. Mr. VanDusen was a veteran of World War 2, serving in the United States Navy. He was awarded two medals and was honorably discharged following the war in 1946. He retired as a truck driver for Steel Warehouse in South Bend He was an avid bowler and drove stock cars at several of the area race tracks including South Bend Speedway and Mottville, Michigan. He was also a past member of the American Legion. A graveside service will be held for Mr. VanDusen at Highland Cemetery, South Bend on Saturday, August 27th at 12:00pm.
