SOUTH BEND - Patricia Szostakowski, 83, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016 in her home. She was born on October 18, 1932, in South Bend, to the late Herbert and Bernice (Kurek) Enders and was a lifelong area resident. On August 9, 1969 she married Walter Szostakowski, Jr., who preceded her in death on August 22, 2015. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol King in June 2016. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Debra Van Dusen of Niles, MI; three sons, Jerry (Tina) Van Dusen and Gary (Sharon) Van Dusen, both of South Bend and Harold, Jr. (Norma) Van Dusen of Edwardsburg, MI; twelve grandchildren, Robert (Amanda) Smith, Gary Van Dusen, Jr., Shawn (Alison) Stevens, Jason Van Dusen, Timothy Van Dusen, Ronnie (Ticiana) Smith, James Smith, Patricia (Derek Stoelting) Stevens, Joshua (December) King, Travis (Sara) Paul, and Dustin Van Dusen and Angel Van Dusen; 27 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deloires Scheibelhut of Mishawaka and Beverly Bratcher of Elkhart, IN; and one brother, William Enders of South Bend. Patricia loved collecting dolls and birdhouses and her grandkids were everything to her. She was an avid Notre Dame fan and loved traveling with her husband. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, September 1, 2016, in the funeral home, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Entombment to follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
