Joseph B. Vicsek, 93, of Mishawaka, died Friday November 13, 2020 at Heritage Point Assisted Living. Joe was born in South Bend on November 6, 1927, the son of (the late) Joseph & Anna (Starwinski) Vicsek. He was a WWII veteran who served his country proudly with the US Navy in the Pacific Theater and was a member and past Chaplain of the VFW Post 360, Mishawaka. Joe had retired from Ball Ban/Uniroyal after 36 years there. On May 21, 1984, Joe married June M. Vicsek; she preceded him in death on May 18, 2008 after 23 years of marriage. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church in Mishawaka; he was active in his church and volunteered regularly whenever needed. He was an avid bowler, and member of several leagues; he also enjoyed tending to his yard & garden, and eating out with friends as often as possible. Joe is survived by his longtime friend, Kathryn Clingenpeel of Mishawaka; his daughter, Linda (Don) Barbour of Mishawaka; son, John (Susan) Vicsek in Texas; sister, Betty Everts of South Bend and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services 11:00 Tuesday November 17, 2020 in First Baptist Church, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka IN, 46545, with Pastor Peter Jones officiating. Visitation is from 10-11am Tuesday in the church. Burial in Highland Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements through Palmer Funeral Home-Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. The family’s preferred memorial is First Baptist Church, Mishawaka.
