SOUTH BEND - Elmer E. Bob Lewallen, 77, of South Bend, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Elmer was born on August 6, 1929, in Cave City, Arkansas, to Alvis and Maggie (Floy) Lewallen. He retired from the former Bendix Corporation and had bartended at Bowlers Country Club for 21 years and at the Army and Navy Garrison #146. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Lewallen in 1995; a son, Ricky Lewallen; and a brother, Boyce Lewallen. On February 14, 2001, Elmer married Brenda, who survives. Surviving with his wife Brenda Lewallen are his daughters, Tina Bartz of South Bend, Kim Lewallen of South Bend, Marilyn Cook of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Linda Miller of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; sons, Mike (Denise) Lewallen of South Bend, Robert Lewallen of Picayune, Mississippi; a stepdaughter, Melissa Seymour of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; and sisters, Oretha Dunn and Freda Steelman of California. Elmer was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Bowlers Country Club and the Army and Navy Garrison #146. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
