Anthony P. Deka, who resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Star, 4430 W. Ford St., died at 8:10 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital after an illness of 11 days. He was born in Poland on June 13, 1878 and moved to South Bend as a child. His wife, Bertha, died 29 years ago. He was employed by Sibley Machine and Foundry Corp. for 30 years, retiring 18 years ago. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Star, Mrs. Virginia Majewski, Mrs. Henrietta Tomaszewski and Mrs. Dorothy Skorupski, all of South Bend; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Walter of South Bend, and Stanley of California, and two sisters, Mrs. Martha Niedzielski and Mrs. Lottie Peterson, both of South Bend. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Kaniewski and son Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Adalberts Catholic Church with Rt. Rev. Msg. Ignatius Gapczynski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mr. Deka was one of the organizers of St. Adalberts parish.

Rev. John Jakubielski, assistant pastor of St. Adalberts Catholic Churchh, will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. today in the Kaniewski and Son Funeral Home for Anthony P. Deka, who died Tuesday in St. Josephs Hospital. Mr. Deka resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Star, 4430 Ford St. The rosary will also be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Grandsons will be pallbearers for the services at 9 a.m. Friday. They are David Skorupski, Raymond Nemeth, Eugene and Ronald Majewski, Al Tomaszewski Jr. and Carl Ward. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
