HUNTSVILLE, AL - Former South Bend resident Catherine Lucille Gramza, 94, of Huntsville, AL, died Monday, December 22nd, in her residence. Mrs. Gramza was born October 9, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Veronica (Stopper) and Stephen Kuharic and was a lifetime area resident until moving to Huntsville in 2011. On February 18, 1939, in Mishawaka, as Catherine L. Kuharic, she married Anthony J. Gramza, who preceded her in death October 8, 1979. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Loch-mondy, and two sisters, Rose Hallaert and Frances Meyerhoffer. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Wheeler (Mark) of Huntsville, Judith Butler (James) of Livonia, MI, and Rita Becker (Michael) of Ohio; three sons, Edward Gramza (Marlene) of Frankfort, IL, Daniel Gramza (Maryanne) of Evanston, IL, and Timothy Gramza of Huntsville; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Ivan Kuharic of Kansas City, MO. Catherine was a loving, devoted wife and mother, and a woman of great Faith. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and her positive attitude toward whatever life presented was an inspiration. Her wonderful sense of humor brought joy to others. Catherine was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Parish, and an active member of the Rosary Altar Society. In her quiet time, she enjoyed embroidery and her books of word puzzles. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27th, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert Epping, C.S.C., officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 27th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N.
