George L. "Zack" Sheneman, 86, of North Liberty, IN passed away at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor, Walkerton, IN. He was born on July 16, 1927 in North Liberty, IN to the late Fred and Alma (Steele) Sheneman. George married the former Elizabeth Hertel, who preceded him in death on July 4th, 2002. Mr. Sheneman is survived by two daughters, Patricia Kammerer of Walkerton, IN and Gail Thompson of Topeka, IL; two sons, George Rosinski of North Liberty, IN and David Wojta of Detroit, MI; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Sheneman, his parents; sister, Vera Ames and two brothers, Don and Bob Sheneman. Mr. Sheneman was a lifelong resident. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a grain farmer for most of his life, but also worked for Wells Aluminum in North Liberty, from which he later retired. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 202 N. Main St., North Liberty, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of George L. Sheneman may be sent to the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
