SOUTH BEND - Lucille (Ast) Chrzan, 87, of South Bend, passed away on March 3, 2014, in Country Care West, South Bend. She was born on January 18, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Henry and Mary (Wroblewski) Ast. On September 4, 1948, she married Daniel "Danny" Chrzan, who preceded her in death on September 7, 2007. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Bruce) Weaver of Fort Wayne, IN; her son, Dennis (Diane Butiste) Chrzan of South Bend; five grandchildren, Denise (fiance' Chris) Weaver of Warsaw, IN, Patrick (Tricia) Weaver of Austin, TX, Lindsey (fiance' Jay) Chrzan of West Lafayette, IN, Sara (Tom) Byron of Bellingham, WA, and Daniel (Stacey) Chrzan of South Bend; and five great-grandchildren, Trevor, Emma, Jack, Bethany and Cassie. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Trudy Kurtz and Phyllis Peczkowski; and by her brother, Arthur Ast. Lucy was a 1945 South Bend Catholic High School graduate and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Polish Business Women and the National Polish Alliance. She enjoyed cooking with friends, family and all; her home was always open. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 Friday, March 7, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, March 8, 2014, in Holy Family Church, with entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
