OSCEOLA Helen Barsoda, 71 years old, residing on Lehman Road in Osceola, Ind., passed away at 1:31 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in the St. Joseph Community Hospital in Mishawaka from natural causes. Mrs. Barsoda was born on July 23, 1928, in Gillett, Arkansas, to the late John Allen and Susie B. (Kirchoff) Gosa. She has been a resident of this area since 1948. Mrs. Barsoda was formerly employed at Sam's Club in Goshen and G.L. Perry in Eklhart.
On July 2, 1977, in Mishawaka, she married Robert Barsoda, who survives. Helen's first husband, James "Bud" Bradberry; three sons, William, James "Gene," and Rex Bradberry; two stepsons, Bill and Donald Barsoda; and a sister, Margarett Pratt, all preceded her in death. Along with her husband Robert, survivors include a daughter, Shirl Spinks of Elba, Alabama; a son, Roy Bradberry of Osceola; a stepdaughter, Melissa Villagrana of Mishawaka; a stepson, Greg Barsoda of Syracuse, Ind.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Nash and Janell Stewart, both of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Don Gosa of Lakeville and Jimmy Gosa of Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola, IN. Rev. William G. Howell, pastor of Calvary Temple in South Bend, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday in the Palmer Funeral Home, Osceola. Mrs. Barsoda was a member of the Christian Center Church in South Bend, and a former member of the Calvary Temple. Contributions in memory of Helen Barsoda may be donated to the American Cancer Society, 404 Columbia Street, South Bend, IN 46601.
