Robert A. Barsoda, 79 years old, residing on Lehman Road in Osceola, IN, passed away at 1:27 A.M. on Monday, August 21, 2000, at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Mr. Barsoda was born on March 8, 1921, in South Bend, to the late James A. and Hazel Goldie Barsoda. He retired as a welder and fabricator from Wheelabrator-Frye Corporation. Mr. Barsoda resided in Wabash, IN, most of his childhood, and moved to Peru, IN, when he married Mary Esther Ross. They moved to Mishawaka in 1951. Mr. Barsoda has been a resident of Osceola for the past 40 years. On July 2, 1977, in Mishawaka, he married Helen (Gosa) Bradberry, who preceded in death on January 26, 2000. His first wife, Mary Ester Ross, also preceded in death, along with two sons, Bill in 1999 and Donald in 1988. Three stepsons, William James "Gene," and Rex Bradberry; one sister, IO Gordon, and one brother, Wilbur Barsoda, all preceded in death. Survivors include one daughter, Melissa (Armando) Villagrana of Mishawaka; one son, Greg (Lori) Barsoda of Syracuse, IN; one stepdaughter, Shirl Spinks of Elba, Alabama; and one stepson, Roy Bradberry of Osceola. Seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 1109 Lincoln Way West, Osceola. Dr. Kevin Zuber, pastor of Mishawaka Grace Brethren Church, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Osceola. Contributions in memory of Robert A. Barsoda may be donated to the Hospice of St. Joseph County, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
