[N6154] Mildred Louise Perry Zielinski
Sept. 24, 1923 - June 17, 2013
SOUTH BEND - Mildred Louise (Perry) Zielinski, 89, on Monday, June 17, 2013 ended her journey on this earth to begin her eternal journey after putting up a very long and hard fight. Mildred was born Sept 24, 1923 in Chrisman, Illinois, the only child of Byron Andrew and Sylvia Geraldine (Wyatt) Perry. On March 8, 1943, Mildred married Ervin Anthony Zielinski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa, Florida while he was serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Anthony Zielinski in 1995, along with their son, Thomas Ervin Zielinski in 2008. Mildred is survived by her daughters, S. Charmaine (Michael) Klemczewski of South Bend, Indiana and Michelle (William) Schori of Greer, South Carolina. She is also survived by daughter in-law, Theresa (Gipson) Zielinski; along with grandchildren: Michael A. Klemczewski Jr., Joseph A. (Tracy) Klemczewski, Dawn M. Klemczewski, Eric A. Klemczewski and Nicole D. (Johnnie Lee) Klemczewski-Beavo; Jeff W. Schori, Kristen E. (Michael) Schori-Breau; Thomas E. (Jaqueline) Zielinski, Jr., Paul J. Zielinski, Brad M. (Kelly) Zielinski, and Corinna A. (Trenton) Zielinski Louis; 16 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While attending Ridge Farm High School (Illinois), she played the trumpet in the orchestra and marching band and was on the tumbling team. In the summer of 1941 at the age of 17, having graduated from high school, she came to South Bend. She soon started working at the well known, "Philadelphia" and immediately met the man who would become her husband. Though shy, Mildred had kept some lifelong friends from high school, her two bridge clubs, and neighbors from early-on until more recently, even though some moved to different neighborhoods or states. Charmaine would like to express her gratitude to her children, a family friend and Center for Hospice for all the time, the tons of help and the special care they provided during the last few months of her Mom's life. Visitation will be Thursday, June 20 from 4-8 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Funeral Mass will take place Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd., on the corner of Jefferson and Ironwood, South Bend, Indiana, where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Interment will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
