SOUTH BEND - Norbert Joseph Luczkowski, 78, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 29, 2006, in Hospice House in South Bend, Indiana.

Mr. Luczkowski was born on March 11, 1928, in South Bend, to Frank and Louise (Bonek) Luczkowski. He retired from the former Uniroyal Corporation as a Product Engineer after 24 years of service.

On September 5, 1953, in South Bend, Norbert married Harriet R. Switalski, who survives. Surviving with his wife of 53 years are his children, Kathy (Jim) Laskowski of Acworth, Georgia, Jeanette (Chris) Sayer of Culver, Indiana, Margie (Randy) Rogers of South Bend, Indiana, Tom (Carolyn) Luczkowski of Woodbury, Minnesota, Mike (Elizabeth) Luczkowski of Temperance, Michigan, John (Jill) Luczkowski of Westfield, Indiana; grandchildren, Kelley (Allan) Edwards, Katie Laskowski, Marissa Luczkowski, Jeffrey, Jessica and Jennifer Sayer, Rachel and Tyler Rogers, Zachary, Colin, Tanner, Chloe, Meghan and Emma Luczkowski; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Spencer Edwards; and his brother, Richard (Rita) Luczkowski of South Bend. His parents and a brother, Raymond Luczkowski all preceded him in death.

Mr. Luczkowski was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, an Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict, a member of the American Legion, Post 50, a member of the Married Men's Club of St. Casimir Parish, a member of the Bowlers Country Club, and a former member of the P.N.A. # 83. Norbert loved bowling and golf, having played in the former Uniroyal golf league.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish and Married Men's Club of St. Casimir Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
